Q: If a man ejaculates inside a woman, where does it go? Does it just like leak out later?
A: An ejaculation contains between 250-500 million sperm cells, fluid, and fructose (sugar) which the sperm cells use as fuel for energy. Sperm cells are constantly moving while they’re alive. Once ejaculated into the vagina, the sperm cells swim up to the top of the vagina, into the uterus, through the entire uterus, and enter onto the Fallopian Tubes. Sperm cells can live in a human body for anywhere from 5-7 days, and they’re moving the whole time. Some of the semen may leak out of the vagina, but the vast majority of it is pulled along with the sperm cells further up and into the female’s body. Of the 250-500 million sperm cells present in an ejaculation, only about 100 sperm cells reach the egg, and only 1 can fertilize (enter) the egg. All the rest of the sperm die along the journey and are absorbed by the female’s body.
