Can you get crabs in a lesbian relationship?

Q: How easy is it to contract crabs from your sexual partner?  Also if we were lesbians could we will contract it from each other?

Crabs are technically called pubic lice.  They’re little bugs that live in one’s pubic hair, and sometimes in other hair on the body like armpits, beards, eyebrows, eyelashes, and chest hair.  You can only get them by coming into close contact with someone who has them, or by sharing underwear, towels, or bedsheets with someone who has them.  The lice lay eggs that attach to clothing or fabric that rubs up against the pubic hair and genital area.  If a person gets those eggs on their body, they hatch and then that person has pubic lice.

Although I’m not a fan of shaving pubic hair (that’s a whole other question), the good news is that people who shave their pubic hair greatly reduce the chance of getting pubic lice.  If there’s no pubic hair there’s nowhere for the lice to live.  However, if a person already has pubic lice, shaving off their pubic hair does not eliminate the lice or cure the infestation.

A person can see pubic lice on another person’s body, so it’s always important to look at a person’s genitals before interacting with them.

Pubic lice is not impacted by gender or sexual orientation.  Any person can give pubic lice to any other person as long as they have skin-to-skin contact with them or with fabric that’s touched their pubic hair area.

Here’s a good website that has information about crabs.   Maybe you’ll find it helpful.
