Adventure Day Report

ADVENTURE DAY

Last month 6th and 8th grade participated in Adventure Day. You could have picked one of these three options: biking adventure, the Montco gym or canoeing. Sadly the biking got rained out so the biking adventure went to the gym. There were pros and cons to each adventure but both were fun in their own ways.

GYM

The gym was about 45 minutes away on the bus but felt longer. The bus was loud and did not have an air conditioner but it was a chilly day so it did not matter. When the bus arrived we all got out. The gym had three parts: an indoor soccer field a basketball court and a rock wall/ trampoline area. First the group played a round of capture the flag, then reverse tag, and after that we split into three groups. The groups rotate between multiple stations there was a relay race, a rock wall and foam pit, and a gymnastics one. After the rotations we ate lunch then got free time.

CANOEING

Canoeing had an even longer bus ride spanning an hour. The canoes were three to a boat which made rowing easier than if they were single canoes. The people in canoeing faced some challenges during their adventure. Some of the things they had to deal with were wolf spiders.  Apparently whenever a canoe would run into a tree, spiders or “wolf spiders” according to the canoers, would fall down because because of the shaking tree. Also because of some of the rocks in the lake people would have to get out and push the canoes. Some of the good things that they said happened were free hot chocolate, fun with their friends in the canoes, and the overall experience of the adventure.

Both adventures were fun, both had their pros and both had their cons but there is no saying which is better; they are different and both good in their own ways.
