Let’s talk movies. 2017 was a huge year for movies, with Star Wars the last Jedi raking in over $1,300,000,000 internationally as of January 22 2018. Disney’s live action remake of Beauty and the Beast /coming in second with $1,263,000,000 internationally. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with 863,000,000 internationally. With 2017 being so big, the bar has definitely been raised very high.
Avengers Infinity War (2018)
Avengers: Infinity War is the long awaited climax the MCU up to this point. All of the superheroes from across the MCU will come together to fight a common enemy, Thanos. This includes heroes such as Iron Man, The Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Captain America, and Spider-Man. The MCU has been gearing up for this since 2008’s Iron Man. In the eyes of critics and fans alike it will be the best movie of 2018. It is going to be released on May 4th, 2018.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
The theories have been swirling for this movie since the post credit scene from Deadpool, where he teases a sequel to the movie. After that fans have gone crazy about it. Deadpool was the first major superhero movie to receive an R rating. Some people were skeptical about it but then quickly changed their mind after seeing the movie. Deadpool 2 is scheduled for release on May 18th, 2018.
Ralph Breaks The Internet (2018)
I’m not going to say anything about this movie. Yes, it is a second Wreck it Ralph movie. It comes out on November 21st, 2018.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
People where not as excited when this movie was announced, people where like, “Another Jurassic Park movie, really!?”. The trailer is actually pretty good. People were sceptical about Jurassic world to begin with. But it turned out great, soooo… Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is going to be good, even if it turns out to be bad, it is going to haul in the cash. All of the cast is returning to shoot the second movie along with some newcomers. It is scheduled for release on June 22nd, 2018
Incredibles 2 (2018)
When Disney announced this movie people were very excited. People have been awaiting sequel for this movie for almost 15 years now. The hype has only increased since it was announced at D23 about a year ago. Most of the original cast will be returning to return their roles. It will feature most of the same characters like Edna Mode, Frozone and of course Mr. Incredible. The movie supposedly picks up right when the first one finishes. The enemy of the movie it supposed to be the Underminer. It is scheduled for release on June 15th, 2018.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
This is the movie I am most excited for. Since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars they have been pumping out the Star Wars movies, and raking in the cash. This movie will be taking place when Han is 16-20 years old. So Harrison Ford and Billy Dee Williams can’t reprise their roles, so they will go to Alden Ehrenreich, and Donald Glover respectively. This movie was been met with skepticism because of Star Wars: the Last Jedi, and Rogue One coming out with mixed reviews. Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out on May 25th, 2018.
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
This another movie that I am looking forward to. It is the first post Infinity War movie, Although it is supposed to take place right after the events of Captain America: Civil War. The trailer was released a while ago and gives some insight into the plot. The enemy is supposed to be Ghost, which is an old Ant-Man villain from the comics. In the comics, he can turn invisible and intangible at will (however, not at the same time), he is also a great hacker. This movie (as the title suggests) is the MCU introduction of the Wasp. People are very excited for this movie. It comes out on the best day of the year, July, 6th 2018 (my birthday).
Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)
Pacific Rim: Uprising is the sequel to the 2013 film Pacific Rim. The premise of Pacific Rim is that giant alien monsters called Kaiju started coming up from a rip in the universe at the bottom of the ocean. After a string of attacks humans band together and create the Jaeger program. A program to create giant robots controlled by two pilots to battle the Kaiju. The second movie takes place ten years after the first movie. Pacific Rim: Uprising was released on March 23, 2018.
Ready Player One (2018)
Ready Player One is the movie adaptation of Ernest Cline’s 2011 book of the same name. It is a book almost literally made of pop culture and movie references form the 80’s. The movie is also being directed my the king of 80’s pop culture himself, Steven Spielberg. From the trailers released it looks like he is taking some liberties with the source material. Another interesting thing is that Ernest Cline is a producer on the movie so Spielberg can have his input on the movie. It was released March 29, 2018.
Aquaman (2018)
Jason Momoa is returning to play the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) version of Aquaman. The character was introduced in Batman vs Superman, but made his movie debut in Justice League. There is really nothing to say about this movie. DC is keeping this movie under very tight wraps. It is going to be released on December 21, 2018.
